Iceland on a whim - How I did Iceland in 3 days

I quit one job and didn't start the next one for another week. So the thought crossed my mind - "F*ck it, I'm gonna go to Iceland!"

That was on a Friday and that following Sunday night I was on my way. Oh, and my mom decided to come too!

Getting to Iceland is pretty easy from New York City, just a short 6 hour flight.
And if you book far enough ahead of time flights can be as low as $300, round trip! But that wasn't the case for us, last minute airfare can be well...

One of the things I didn't think of was, when you go to Iceland last minute many things will be sold out. Don't expect to go to Blue Lagoon unless you booked a ways out. But that didn't stop us. I was able to find many cool day trips from Reykjavík though Grey Line tours.
We had the most fantastic tour guide and just cant say enough how much we liked Grey Line.

Here are a few of the place we went, and you can see more in the video above!

The weather, needless to say, was super unpredictable. But if you ever visit Iceland you will come to know the phrase:

"If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes"

I can’t say enough about how much I enjoyed Iceland. I think had I not decided to go last minute I would have waited years to do this. I loved that I had this amazing opportunity and that I was able to make great memories with my mom.

Travel can be hard, but if you let over planning get in the way you might never do something you want to do. So I say, just get after it!
