The Seinfeld method

Whether or not you like Jerry Seinfeld's comedy, the Seinfeld method is something I think we can all get behind. This method has helped me keep my eye on my goals and build healthy habits.

The method is essentially this: identify one goal every day, when you achieve that goal mark a big red X on a calendar (paper calendars are best for visual effect). After one day that you mark an X you feel good, after a string of days you feel great, and after a month of days you feel as if you cannot "break the chain."

For Seinfeld, his goal was to pressure himself to write more.
For me it has been to do something creative every day.
Sometimes its video editing, sometimes blog writing, sometimes its sending emails to random strangers to get on podcasts, in their blog, or to collaborate on a project. Whatever it might be that day no matter how big or small I mark it on my calendar (but I use purple stars instead of red Xes).

This method helped me greatly when I decided to quit my last job. The job, for many reasons, caused me to become incredibly depressed - I thought no one really cared about any of my creative endeavors so "what was the point?"
Im so happy I pushed myself to do something creative every day and every day got a bit stronger. These little creative explorations have allowed me to explore new things, meet new people, and learn more about myself.

So what is your goal for your Seinfeld method?
